Reflection

Introduction to Guidance and Counseling with SPED course, what should I learn regarding the course? That was my question when I enrolled this Inter semester ‘16. This course was really interesting at the very first day, why? Because our professor asked each one of us in the class about our plans in the future after 5-10 years. What can you see yourself or how can you perceive yourself 5-10 years from now? That was really an amazing and awesome question for me personally. Then, I started to think deeply about it.

I have learned a lot in this course on how to do counseling and what the good counseling techniques are, and most of all on how to sympathize and to build a rapport to our students or clients is necessary. Also, now I understand already the importance of the anecdotal record and report as a teacher. I can say that, studying this course makes you more aware of the role and significance of the guidance and counseling methods and ministry. Also, I have learned the importance of special education ministry.

It was really amazing to be an educator of a special children. As Christians we’re to counsel others and listen to wise counsel so we can all grow in Christ. The Holy Spirit who lives in us will help us in guidance and learning God’s Word. According to these following verses in the Bible: Proverbs 15:22 Plans fail without advice, but with many counselors they are confirmed. Psalm 16:7-8 I will praise the LORD who counsels me— even at night my conscience instructs me. I keep the LORD in mind always. Because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken. Psalm 32:8 [The LORD says,] “I will instruct you. I will teach you the way that you should go. I will advise you as my eyes watch over you.

As I reflected, this course is not a mere Intro. to Guidance and Counseling class, but it's knowing how to apply a real counseling in the real life situation as a future educator..
